Introduction
The VST-APL appliance regularly receives software releases that introduce new functionalities or address known issues. These updates have resulted in numerous enhancements to the VST-APL applications. In the following article, we will provide a concise overview of the procedures for backing up these applications to prevent the loss of valuable data you have stored.
Backup the entire system
Go to System > Backup and Restore and click on "Create Backup".
Once you have selected “Create Backup,” you will need to choose which applications you want to back up, as shown in the image below:
It is necessary to select the backup location; in this example, it is a USB inserted into USB port one.
It is possible to back up only a few Applications.
You will have to double-check whether you have enough space on the USB/Storage to make the backup.
Once you click the "Back Up Now" button, you will see the following:
If you are using the Wireless Controller (AWC) or SNMP (Full) plugins, please ensure that you back up these applications before proceeding.
This is required as the application instances will need to be destroyed and recreated as part of the process.
Please use the Backup feature available within the respective applications. Do not use the VST-APL Backup and Restore feature for this purpose.
Below are some examples of how to back up AWC and SNMP from Vista Manager EX.

The same process can be used to back up Vista Manager EX.

Now we will proceed with the software upgrade of the VST-APL device.

From the “Download Center”, you will have to download the zip file from the VST-APL software.
Step 1: The zip file contains 2 files, the bundle and the ISO, which must be uploaded to the VST-APL flash.
Step 2: On the “File Management” page, “Set Boot Release File”, click the pencil on the right side and select the system file you will use for the upgrade.
As you can see, we have two ISO files, the current one 1.13.1, and we will upgrade the device to the latest one 1.14.2
Once you have selected the last version, click “Apply”, then reboot as shown in the example below.
After the reboot, you will see the VST-APL with the newer ISO version.
Once this is done, the containers must be upgraded to the latest version from the bundle.
Click the Checkbox to upgrade the selected applications.
As previously stated, the AWC and SNMP containers cannot be upgraded and must be recreated from scratch; the saved backups must be used to run them again with the latest version of the bundle.
