Allied Telesis Support Portal

How to modify the default IP assigned to an Allied Telesis Device as well as Enable service such as Telnet?

Introduction

By default, Allied Telesis devices come with a default management IP once an Ethernet cable is connected to one of the ports, it is advisable to change this IP since if you have several Allied Telesis devices, you could have a conflict in network.

Additionally, it is useful to know the equipment's administration IP address.

How to modify the default IP address

Connect to the Allied Telesis switch via ethernet cable to any network port on the front panel (Not the console port), then navigate to 169.254.42.42 (Default IP address of AlliedWarePlus) from a browser, some devices use comes with a different IP address, you can try 192.168.42.42 and 192.168.1.1. A warning similar to the image below will be displayed due to self-signed certificate for https traffic.
